Best Resources for Epi Research in Applied Epidemiology?

Hi everyone,

I am relatively new to the Applied Epidemiology community and wanted to reach out to see if anyone has specific recommendations for some of the best resources to use when carrying out work in this area. I am mostly focused on getting a better understanding of how to design and analyze epidemiological studies. Ideally, I would like to learn both the theoretical and practical application of epidemiological methods particularly when it comes to using real-world data (i.e. public health databases, surveys).

I have found a lot of academic articles in this area, but I am more interested in finding practical resources that are like tools and guides (e.g. video tutorials, software suggestions, or case studies focused on applied epidemiology). I am particularly interested in any resources that facilitate the practical application of epidemiological methods to address real-world health problems.

On another note, I have been playing with the idea of branching into cybersecurity since privacy from hackers is a serious problem in health data. Does anyone have any tips on how to learn cybersecurity (specifically ways to integrate it with applied epi work)?

Additionally, if anyone has experience using software (e.g. R, SAS) for analysis, or has good strategies for large data management this would also be great to hear about!

Thanks,
martinanderson
